Your course materials are accessed online and you are free to work on the course requirements on your own time from anywhere in Australia. The online CHC52015 course runs all throughout the year. This allows you to enrol and start your course straight away or on your preferred commencement date.

What Will You Learn In The Community Services Course?
The Diploma of Community Services online course will prepare you for a rewarding career in the community services industry.
You will learn how to fulfil the critical functions of case management as workers involved in the managing, co-ordinating, and/or delivering of person-centered services to individuals, groups, and communities, and contributing to the community services industry.
Other critical skills and knowledge you will learn are the Australian legal and ethical frameworks you need to follow as a community service worker, how to develop, facilitate and review all aspects of case management, and how to develop and implement service programs as a member of the community services industry.
In the Case Management specialisation of the CHC52015, your additional focus will be on how to provide case management supervision, facilitate workplace debriefing and support processes, and also lead and manage team effectiveness.
Additionally, throughout our Community Services course you will learn more general skills to help you work and communicate effectively in the community services sector, follow and improve professional practice, and undertake project work.
Course Outline & Structure For Community Services
Aspex Training Academy has clustered the CHC52015 to create a more effective and easy to follow learning experience. By grouping together similar course units, we have minimised the amount of repetitive course work you have to do to gain your qualification.
This means that you only need to complete 7 workbooks to complete your course instead of studying and submitting requirements for each unit individually.
Expected Study Hours: There are up to 1400 study hours for this course (including Vocational Placement), or up to 27 hours per week, depending on your industry experience and relevant knowledge.
Assessment Methods: Assessment methods for this course include a combination of written questions, projects, case studies, observation and a skills journal. These will give you maximum opportunity to develop your knowledge in community services and specialise in case management.
There are no entry requirements for this course; however, it is recommended that students:
- Are at least 18 years old
- Have sound language and literacy skills (at least Year 10 English, or equivalent)
- Have proficient computer skills with internet access
- Obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI)

To complete your online Community Services course, you will need to arrange access to:
- Computer with Internet access with a reliable speed of at least 5mbps, installed with Latest MS Word, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox
- A video recording device, such as a camera or smart phone
- Digital presentation media (e.g. PowerPoint, video presentation, infographics)
- At least three (3) people to volunteer in assessment activities and role play activities
- One (1) workplace or business to use as subject for research/review
- At least one (1) calendar application or task prioritisation software for managing tasks (ex: smart phone apps)
Due to units containing mandatory workplace skills component, students will undertake a minimum of 100 hours to a maximum of 240 hours of vocational placement within a registered and approved organisation. Students are required to complete Subjects 1-6 before entering their Vocational Placement.

Note: Students may be required to complete a Police Check, Blue Card or Working With Children Check prior to commencing their vocational placement at their chosen facility. Any costs will be shouldered by the student. For students planning to do their vocational placement in Queensland, the National Health and Medical Research Council recommends immunisation for hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and influenza. Similar regulations in other states and territories may also apply to you.
The Diploma of Community Services reflects the roles of community services, case management workers involved in the managing, co-ordinating and/or delivering of person-centered services to individuals, groups and communities.
At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously under broad directions from senior management.
